Autumn is just around the corner and if you are wanting to get out this fall and enjoy a few activities around town, we have compiled the ultimate list of to-dos for you!

1) Lace-up your hiking boots and hit the trails! The fall foliage this time of year is breathtaking. We absolutely love getting out in nature and seeing all the changing leaves as they fall off the trees. Our top two favorite hikes are the Portage Pass Trail from Whittier to Portage Lake and the Reed Lakes Trail in Hatcher Pass! We highly recommend trying both of these hikes this fall.

2) Get out fishing. Fall is a great time to hit the rivers with the summer rush of sports fishermen off of the water. You can head out on a crisp day and cast for Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, Steelhead, and Silver Salmon! Bring home your catch of the day and cook up a lovely dinner! We have a few amazing recipes on our blog for fish, click here to give them a try!

3) Spend a day with our favorite local athletes and mush this fall. Although we don't have snow quite yet our mushers and teams are already out on the trails training. If you are interested in learning to mush click here

4) If you are spending your days outdoors during this season don't miss out on the Aurora Borealis. Starting in September the Northern Lights can be seen again. Pack up your favorite blankets and get cozy as you search for the vibrant light show.

5) Last but not least pack up and head out camping. The weather is perfect to curl up next to a fire and roast hot dogs and s' mores. You will see some amazing sites from leaves changing, beautiful sunsets, and like we mentioned above light shows in the evening by the Nothern Lights. A perfect way to enjoy this season.

We hope that you all have a fantastic fall and get out and enjoy all the activities you can before winter arrives!
