How are you planning on enjoying the long weekend? If you are preparing for a trip here, are a few excursions you can take within the state of Alaska!

1) Anchorage

Yes, we said Anchorage you can plan a staycation right here! We have so much to offer in Anchorage and the surrounding area. Take off and enjoy the 100 miles of bike paths through the city or head over to the wildlife conservation center to view some local wildlife.

2) Girdwood

You may not think this is the time of year to visit this little ski town but, you are wrong! Girdwood is full of hiking trails and, if you are one who loves adventure and getting out into the wild this is the trip for you! Pack up and enjoy the gorgeous drive out to Girdwood this weekend and take in all the views!

3) Kodiak

You would have to fly or ferry for this trip. It is only a short 45-minute flight from Anchorage. This southwestern island will make you feel like you are somewhere remote and tropical. You will have a ton of opportunities to take a tour to isolated parts of the island to view the Kodiak brown bears in their natural habitat. You can enjoy some of the world-class fishing or hike around Fort Abercrombie State Park and enjoy the nature of the island.

4) Kenai

If you are wanting to go fishing this weekend, head out of Anchorage and travel to the Kenai Peninsula for some phenomenal fishing. You can cast your line in the sun-speckled rivers and soak in the remaining days of the summer. Kenai also has a US wildlife refuge where you can hike and view local species.

5)  Seward

If you decide to go to Kenai and want to adventure further, keep traveling down the southeastern side of the Kenai Peninsula to the lovely town of Seward. You can stroll downtown and check out the unique local gift shops or tour the stunning Kenai Fjords national park and learn about the icebergs and go whale watching!

Please make sure to check any local guidelines and recommendations prior to trip planning. We hope that you have a very safe Labor Day weekend.
